Power Of Name Of God :-Chanting

Power Of Name Of God :-Chanting

In life, we all encounter challenges, and it's common for people to feel overwhelmed and, at times, even contemplate giving up. However, in the depths of such struggles, there exists a powerful solution — the chanting of the holy name of God. This practice, rooted in the profound teachings of Vedic philosophy, holds immense transformative power. The repetitive utterance of divine name is believed to bring not only peace but also clarity and a profound sense of purpose to our lives. It serves as a powerful tool to connect with higher consciousness and find solace in the face of adversity.

First, let me provide you with an example because I'm sure you area not going to believe that chanting has immense power to alleviate all your miseries. You might be familiar with the hippies. Yes, the American government struggled to guide them towards a more civilized manner. They did literally everything. You can search about them.Do you know who played a crucial role in ending the hippie culture and helping them transition to a more civilized lifestyle? It was none other than Bhakti Vedanta SwamiPrabhupada,Founder-Acharya of ISCKON. Surprisingly, an Indian saint succeeded where the American government had failed.

Prabhupada provided them with the Hare Krishna Mahamantra, the name of Lord Krishna, which literally transformed their entire lives and habits, elevating them to a higher level. It's truly remarkable how an Indian saint achieved what the American government couldn't.

I can personally attest to the power of the holy name of God. Even in my failures and during my low moments, chanting has been a source of strength and support. Chanting has helped me. It is having immense power. But you are not going to believe it because you are never going to chant the name of Lord. Just chant the name of Lord and see the magic.

I respect the name of Lord Ram more than Lord Ram himself. Because what did Lord Ram do? Lord Ram just killed Ravan and few the demons. But the name of Lord Ram killed many. Minds lost in materialism? And also these are not my words, These are the words of great Goswami Tulsidas chief from Ramcharitmanas. No, many people are not going to believe it. How the name of Lord is greater than Ram himself. Actually there is no difference between the name of Lord and Lord himself. But if we see then the name of Lord Ram is more powerful than Ram himself.

I respect the name of Lord Ram more than Lord Ram himself. Why? Because what did Lord Ram do? He only killed Ravan and a few demons. However, the name of Lord Ram has the power to influence countless minds lost in materialism. These are not just my words; they echo the sentiments of the great Goswami Tulsidas,  in Ramcharitmanas.

Once upon a time, Narada shared the belief with the sages of Ayodhya that the name of Lord Ram is more powerful than Lord Ram himself. However, some of the sages disagreed with Narada and questioned the possibility of such a statement. They couldn't agree how the name of the Lord could surpass the Lord himself in power. Narada, not deterred by their skepticism, went to the king of Kashi and urged him to meet Lord Ram. Narada advised the king not to bow down before Sage Vishwamitra upon arrival. The king of Kashi, initially hesitant, questioned  expressing his respect for Sage Vishwamitra's wisdom and knowledge. Narada then revealed that before becoming a sage, Vishwamitra was a king and should not be accorded the same level of respect. Convinced by Narada's explanation, the king of Kashi agreed.

When the king arrived in Ayodhya and met Lord Ram, he bowed down before every sage except Vishwamitra. Vishwamitra, thought little of the omission. However Narada told that King of Kashi is full of arrogance and is not respecting you.Upon receiving this information, Vishwamitra ordered Lord Ram to kill the arrogant king of Kashi. Obliging his Guru's command, Lord Ram pursued the king with bow and arrow. In the jungle, the king encountered Lord Hanuman, who, aware of the impending danger, decided to protect him.

Lord Hanuman used his divine power to create a mountain with his tail, hiding the king inside. As Lord Ram approached, he asked Hanuman about the king's whereabouts. Hanuman, loyal to his duty, informed Lord Ram that the king was beneath his tail. Despite Ram's request to stop protecting the king, Hanuman, King of Kashi a great devotee of Lord Ram refused.

In an unfortunate turn of events, Lord Ram had to follow his Guru's orders. He launched an arrow towards Hanuman. Hanuman, by chanting the name of Sri Ram, avoided harm. This incident reinforced the understanding that the name of Lord Ram holds immense power, even greater than the physical form of Lord Ram himself.

If you keep reading my blogs then you know about Bhakti Yog and you also know about the 9 types of Bhakti Yog. So the first step of the 9 type of Bhakti is chanting. In the age of Kali, it’s really difficult to serve the Lord. You cannot sit in meditation for ages. Your back will start paining and your attention is surely going to deviate from the God. So you cannot meditate in this age. And the meditation which you do for 10 to 20 minutes that is not real meditation for your kind information and You cannot do Yagyas and all that. Because first of all, you do not have the pure material to sacrifice(like pure ghee, wood). Many Yagyas  are expensive and also there are many other things which are required for a proper yagya to take place. You cannot do diety worship because that’s also difficult. You don’t have time at all. But what you can do in this age is taking the holy name of Lord. That’s the most easiest work you can do. Even while you are working in your office just chant the name of God If you work like this by serving your work to God then that will that is also going to become a devotional activity. You think that spiritual activity is doing pooja? And all that stuff, No, that is surely a part of devotional service. But if you are dedicating your daily task to the Lord, then that will also become bhajan.

Let me share another captivating story centered around the transformative power of chanting. In the annals of devotion, there was a revered saint named Shri Haridas Thakur. His life was a testament to the unwavering practice of chanting the name of God. What makes his story even more intriguing is the fact that he was born into a Muslim family yet devotedly chanted the Hare Krishna Mahamantra.

One day, the emperor, intrigued by this cross-faith devotion, summoned Shri Haridas Thakur and questioned him. The emperor, perturbed by the saint's adherence to chanting Hindu mantras, urged him to stop. Shri Haridas Thakur fearlessly responded, asserting that the holy names of Krishna transcend sectarian boundaries, and the Divine is one, regardless of the name by which one calls upon Him.

Despite the saint's explanation, the chief Qazi, acting on the emperor's orders, decided to imprison him. Undeterred, Haridas Thakur maintained his peaceful nature in prison, even inspiring fellow inmates to embrace Krishna consciousness and surrender to the Lotus feet of Lord Shri Krishna. This transformation among the prisoners brought about a sense of jubilation.

The king repeatedly implored Haridas Thakur to renounce the name of the Lord, but the saint remained resolute. He declared that even if his body were mutilated, and he lost his life, he would not cease chanting the holy names of Krishna. Frustrated, the king sought advice from the Qazi, who recommended severe punishment – whipping in 22 marketplaces until death.

Remarkably, Haridas Thakur endured this brutal punishment. His body drenched in blood, he continued chanting the Lord's name in all 22 marketplaces, defying expectations of mortal endurance. Spectators in the markets, witnessing this intense ordeal, were moved to sympathy. Some cursed the king, while others pleaded with the guards to stop the torment.

An extraordinary aspect of this narrative is Haridas Thakur's unwavering smile throughout the ordeal. Despite the excruciating pain, his countenance radiated joy. This resilience and serenity, beyond the capacity of an ordinary human, underscored the extraordinary nature of his devotion.

Even after enduring the 22 marketplaces, Saint was alive and chanting. There was no slight of pain on his face. The guards threw Haridas Thakur into the river Ganga, expecting the inevitable. However, the saint miraculously survived. Overwhelmed by the potency of the name of God, the king, recognizing his own ignorance, sought forgiveness from NamaAcharya Shri Haridas Thakur, who, in his magnanimity, granted it.

This profound tale serves as a testament to the unparalleled power of chanting the name of God, a force evident throughout history. The skepticism of those who doubt it only highlights the challenge of grasping the depth of spiritual truths without genuine exploration and experience.

You get a lot of peace when you chant the holy name of God.

Now, let's address the solution to the challenges you might be facing—mental depression, anxiety, fear, and the like. The remedy lies in the simple yet powerful practice of chanting the Holy name of God. Starting today, make a commitment to spend just 10 minutes each day chanting the name of the deity to whom you feel a deep connection, your Ishta Devata. Consider this a personal revolution and immerse yourself in the soothing rhythm of your favorite Bollywood music, adapting the lyrics to reflect the name of God.

Initially, your mind might wander towards worldly thoughts and materialistic concerns, but don't be disheartened. Persist in changing the focus to the name of God. With time, you'll notice a shift, and eventually, the goal is to be in a state where thoughts of God occupy your mind 24/7.

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. To clarify, our blog highlights the significant role Bhakti Vedanta Swami Prabhupada played, but we did not imply that he was the sole reason for the decline of the hippie culture. In fact, before writing the blog, we consulted several references, including insights from renowned speakers, The Washington Post, and Wikipedia. We fully acknowledge that the primary causes for the decline of the hippie movement include major events like the Woodstock Festival in 1969 and other cultural shifts, as you mentioned.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused and will discuss with the author if any revisions are needed for clarity. However, we do kindly request that future comments be phrased politely, as we all benefit more from constructive dialogue. As Plato said, 'We are all moving towards the same truth,' and through such conversations, we can only grow closer to it.
