Questions on BrahmKumaris philosophies
India has
continued to be a land of philosophies from the very beginning, and these
philosophies were often very contradicting in nature. Take the Charvak
philosophy, for example. Even today, new philosophies are emerging in India,
such as the Arya Samaj philosophy or the Brahma Kumaris philosophy.
However,
there are certain philosophies that present themselves as Hindu in nature,
incorporating many Hindu elements, but are not genuinely Hindu. These types of
philosophies are sometimes not even considered philosophies; they are referred
to as propaganda. One such example is the case of Jagatguru Rampal Ji, who is
currently in jail. These philosophies,
which appears to resonate with many Hindus, goes directly against their
traditions and does not align with Vedic teachings.
One of the
notable instances is the Brahma Kumaris philosophy. This philosophy, liked by
many Hindus, raises questions as it diverges from their traditions. It is
important to note that this discussion is not intended to criticize the Brahma
Kumaris organization or its social services, which are commendable in
contributing to peace and society.
In
questioning the philosophy, it's crucial to recognize that debates or shastraarth were integral parts of Indian Spiritual
wisdom. This is not an attack on their organization or social services, but
rather an inquiry into their philosophical stance. If you find this blog
challenging, please refrain from criticizing, as my intention is not to spread
hate. As a bee visits different flowers without hating them, I invite you to
take my questions and respond if you can. Let's foster understanding and avoid
the spread of animosity between communities.
I have
extensively researched their philosophy, listened to their spiritual leaders,
and some of my friends are actively practicing within the organization. Based
on these experiences, I am writing a blog about them.
They say:-
“There
are four yugas -Satyuga, Treta Yuga, Dwapar Yuga and Kali Yuga each of 1250
years. After every 5000 years destruction takes place in the world and again
creation of world takes place and same cycle follows.”
Now this is
completely against the Vedic scriptures but now someone would even question the
Vedic scriptures so let me tell you that dinosaurs existed 65 million years ago
but for science not for Brahmkumaris because their world is just for 5000 year old.
Also carbon dating suggests age of many things 50000 years ago. A fundamfenftal
belief of their philosophy is shattered
They also
say that:-
“Soul
doesn’t exist in animals, it only exist in human beings.”
Then how do
animals live and this fact goes completely against Bhagavad Gita,Vedas and
Puranas. As per Vedic philosophies, depending on our Karma we take birth in
higher and lower species such as animals. And consciousness in a body comes
from soul. Without consciousness body is a dead body it becomes active due to soul.
Actually soul is not right word for “Atma” in vedic philosophy but due
to lack of words in English language I used it.
They also
question the existence of Ramayana and Mahabharata and for that very reason I
am questioning their philosophy. They say that their philosophy is only correct
but I am here to question them.
They say
that:-
“They say
world is going to end soon”
In 1976 they
claimed world is going to end, then in 2000 again and then again in 2012 now
they claim it is going to end in 2036. They keep shifting their dates when it
doesn’t end which proves that they are just making fool of people.
They say
that :-
“Bhagavad
Geeta narrated in Mahabharat is wrong/ false. Murali's written in Hindi is
real/ authentic Geeta.”
It means
that great acharayas like Adi Shankaracahrya,Madhavacharya,Ramanujcharya who
gave their commentaries on Bhagavad Gita are fake and an organisation started
in 1936 is correct.
According to
their teachings, the importance of the purity of the soul is emphasized,
suggesting that even in marriage, one should treat their spouse as a sister.
However, a potential contradiction arises when considering the concept of
procreation, as treating one's wife as a sister seems incompatible with the
traditional Vedic view.
In Vedic
philosophy, the emphasis is on treating one's spouse as divine, seeing God in
them, and engaging in sexual relations for the purpose of continuing the
lineage through the birth of a child rather than for mere sense gratification.
From this perspective, the Vedic philosophy offers a vision that aligns with
the sacred nature of marital relations and the purpose of family expansion.
They claim
that saints won't help you reach your aim, but I strongly disagree. I've
personally experienced the transformative power of saints in my life. They have
played a pivotal role in turning me away from a tamasic state, freeing me from
anxiety and depression through their grace. The guidance I've received in my
spiritual journey has been solely due to the influence of saints.
In Vedic
philosophy, saints are revered, often considered even greater than God. The
significance lies in the belief that without the guidance of saints, it can be
challenging to discern the path leading to the Supreme. Comparing it to
learning physics, attempting to understand it on your own can be difficult, but
with a master of physics as your guide, the process becomes much smoother.
Similarly, saints provide guidance on the spiritual path, making it more
accessible.
Without the
presence of saints, who in society would uplift fallen souls and guide them
towards a love for the divine? The role of saints is crucial in facilitating
spiritual growth and connecting individuals with higher aspirations.
Many of my
friends have expressed dissatisfaction with the answers provided by the Brahma
Kumaris. Some might argue that practicing their meditation brings a sense of
peace, but I believe this tranquility is a common result of focused meditation
on any object. For instance, try closing your eyes, sitting for 5 minutes, and
concentrating on a chair. Upon opening your eyes, you may feel a sense of
bliss—this is a normal psychological response, not exclusive to a particular
meditation technique.
True
meditation goes beyond temporary feelings of peace during the practice. It
extends into a state of lasting tranquility that persists even when meditation
is not actively practiced. This enduring sense of blessing characterizes
authentic meditation, which is far more profound than the initial calming
effects.
Their
philosophies goes totally against the Vedic scriptures and the people who call
themselves Hindus and follow the Brahma Kumaris teaching are actually fake
Hindus. Because Hindu is a person who
follows the teachings of the Vedas. But Brahmakumaris are preaching what is against the Vedas. Its
actually a cult. And the Hindus who follow their philosophy are the people who
haven’t read Vedic scriptures, so I would advise these people to please go and
read the scriptures.
